The 3rd annual Decentralized conference organised by the University of Nicosia (UNIC) will take place from 30th October – 1st November 2019. Over 1500 attendees from more than 50 countries will again gather at the luxurious 5-star Divani Caravel hotel in Athens. Dr. Adam Black– CEO – Blockstream
Dr. Adam Black is a prominent figure within the crypto/blockchain sector having invented the proof-of-work hashcash algorithm used in Bitcoin mining. An incredible intellectual with hands-on industry knowledge, Dr. Adam Black is also the CEO and Co-Founder of Blockstream, a global leader in Bitcoin and blockchain technology. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Exeter.
Dr. Garrick Hileman – Director of Research – Blockchain
Dr. Garrick is a crypto and blockchain expert and one of the most-cited thought leaders in the industry. He created and taught the first UK class on blockchain technology at the University of Cambridge and is the author of a stablecoins study, the first University of Cambridge “Global Currency Benchmarking Study” and the follow-on “Global Blockchain Benchmarking Study.”
Antony Lewis – Director of Digital Assets – R3
Also taking to the stage will be Antony Lewis, Director of Digital Assets at R3 in Singapore. Having worked professionally in the blockchain sector since 2013, Lewis’ work revolves around understanding the transformative nature and implications of digital assets recorded as tokens on Corda, R3’s notorious blockchain platform. Antony also sits on the FinTech advisory committee for the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and is the author of “The Basics of Bitcoins and Blockchains.”
Bill Barhydt – Founder and CEO – Abra
Bill Barhydt is the Founder and CO of Abra, a company which is responsible for providing the world’s very first global investment app. Highly intuitive, the app makes it possible for consumers to invest in everything from fiat currency to crypto assets with traditional equities in the pipelines for investment opportunities in the near future.
Bill Barhydt has also worked for some of the world’s top organisations including the CIA and NASA bringing within him extensive technological expertise. He specialised in introducing next-generation computer graphics and visualisation techniques. He has also been the CEO of KnowNow, VP Market Development for Plaxo and a Director or adviser to numerous start-ups.
Eva Kaili – MEP Chair of STOA – European Parliament
As a member of the European Parliament since her election in 2014, Eva Kaili is currently serving as the Chair of the Science and Technology Options Assessment Body – also known as STOA. Her focus is largely on innovative methods and techniques used to establish the European Digital Single Market. Kaili is particularly active in multiple fields including blockchain technology, m/eHealth, big data, fintech and cybersecurity.
George Giaglis – Director – Institute for the Future, University of Nicosia
George Giaglis is one of UNIC’s most renowned professors. He is the Director of the Institute for the Future and is a leading expert on blockchain technology having been involved in the industry since 2012. UNIC currently offers a MSc in Digital Currency, the curriculum for which was design by Mr Giaglis with the degree being the first of its kind.

Charlotte Day – Creative Director – Contentworks Agency
As the Creative Director of Contentworks, Charlotte has extensive experience developing and implementing content and social strategies for top brands in finance and blockchain.
